Tennyson is sitting at the table with a piece of paper and a yellow crayon. He just informed me that he's making a constellation, with lots and lots of stars.

A constellation. As clear as day. I'm going to stop using little words with him.

They never cease to amaze me.

one of my friends was over the other day and she was talking to Caden in a baby tone. She stops and says to me, "is that ok that I talk to him in baby talk?" I said it was absolutely fine with me, he is a baby after all, that got me thinking of how I talk to him. I don't very often, if I'm explaining why he shouldn't attack the tv, its not a baby tone, i explain just like I would to a 5 year old, i found it interesting, i guess i figure if I keep talking to him the same way, he'll understand eventually. Sometimes when i'm oogling over him, the baby tone is at 100%!! Altho I certainly haven't used the word "constellation" with him :)

I'd say go ahead and use baby tone - "they" say that babies respond better to it. I'd argue against making up baby words for them though. I wouldn't want my five year old calling a train a choo choo forever!

it's not as tho i make a conscious choice to not use it, i just find that i don't. think it kinda depends on the person. My friend who did, she says she always talks that way to babies and her dog too, guess its just what she does. I don't think i'd talk that way to my dog if i had one. funny.
