I have this thing where I don't always sleep very well. Sleepless nights used to happen a lot, where I either couldn't fall asleep when I went to bed, or I'd fall asleep just fine, but then wake up at midnight for whatever reason and then take three hours to fall back asleep. This happens less all the time. For this I am thankful. That being said, I am seriously the least productive person when I'm super tired. I may also be a little . . . cranky. Did I mention I started a new job? I did! I also just worked two night shifts in a row. My plan was to have evening naps before work, and catch an hour or two in the morning. Well guess who apparently can't sleep at 8:30pm? I'm sure it has nothing to do with conditioning myself to sit up until midnight catching up on Once Upon a Time and Elementary. I don't even know where I'm going with this. I do know that 16 ounces of Tim's coffee kind of feels like six hours of sleep in a cup, except that there...

It's been a busy summer. We've camped five times already, and there are two more trips before the month is over. Hopefully it doesn't rain. We are 5 for 5 on rainy camping trips so far. Jordan is currently attending Camp Soleil. We have had beach days, park days, birthdays, and a few home days. There are only three weeks until school starts. Sucks summer is cruising by so fast. That being said, I'm feeling a little burn out. There have been a couple of disappointments and a whole lot of running around like a crazy person. Well, crazier. Also, I am officially employed. Last night I worked my first shift at a New Directions Shift-Staffed Home. It's a home in the community where adults with special needs live, and where we support workers help them to be able to do so! What else? I don't know. I had a Tupperware party. There were 847 kids here. It was crazy! And delicious! And and and. I've been doing bootcamp classes all summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays...

Mitchell comes in from outside whining. Tennyson apparently pushed him down on the trampoline and he hit his leg. "On the trampoline?" I asked. "Yeah," he whined. "I think you'll be okay," I said. "Unless you want to go to the hospital for a needle." "No," he laughs. "Actually, I do need to get you a needle." He looks concerned - "Today?" "No, not today." I went into the kitchen for a phone and tried the clinic. All the best moms wait for the summer holidays before kindergarten to start phoning around to get their kids' shots and appointments up to date. Of course it's closed by now. In the meantime, Elliot and Mitchell are talking. She's bouncing up and down saying "I want a needle!" Mitchell responds by telling her that she doesn't get a needle, only him. "Only me and Mommy," he says. "Not you." "But I wanna needle!" she wails, break...

Sometimes when Jordan and Tennyson fight I amuse myself by announcing that before they are free from their time-outs they need to have a five second hug. I don't start counting to five until both of them have their arms around the other. Then I count. Slowly. Probably takes more like 15 seconds. I bet you can tell which kid feels more tortured.
